Hundreds of people may have been killed in a suspected Boko Haram attack on four villages in north-east Nigeria, a local politician and residents say.
Gunmen in military uniform struck Goshe, Attagara, Agapalwa and Aganjara in the Gwoza district of Borno state late on Tuesday, razing homes, churches and mosques and killing residents who tried to flee the violence.
Some community leaders put the death toll in the attacks as high as 400 to 500, although there was no independent verification of the claim because of poor communications and difficulties by the emergency services in accessing the area.
If confirmed, the attack would be one of the deadliest in the Islamists' five-year insurgency and top the more than 300 who were killed on May 5 when militant fighters laid siege to the nearby town of Gamboru Ngala.

The killings are massive but nobody can give a toll for now because nobody has been able to go to that place because the insurgents are still there. They have taken over the whole area," politician Peter Biye said on Thursday.
"There are bodies littered over the whole area and people have fled," added Biye, who represents Gwoza in Nigeria's lower chamber of parliament the House of Representatives.
Reports from the remote region near the border with Cameroon said that the insurgents continued their attack throughout Wednesday, stealing livestock and food and burning property.
"Hundreds of dead bodies are lying there ... because there is nobody that will bury them," said one community leader in Attagara, who requested anonymity.
The community leader said the area was facing a grave "humanitarian crisis" while others called for relief agencies to be allowed in to enable the dead to be buried.

KENYA IN TROUBLE OVER SOMALI REFUGEES

Mogadishu — Hundreds of Somalis repatriated from Kenya over the past two months, some of whom had lived there for decades, are finding it difficult to return to a place they no longer consider home and to rely on relatives who are also struggling to get by.
Kenyan authorities have deported 359 Somalis, including at least three registered refugees, since the start of their security crackdown in early April, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said last Friday (May 23rd).
Amina Hassan, a 25-year-old mother of four, was one of 84 people put on a flight to Mogadishu April 9th.
Hassan said she has lived most of her life in Kenya; her mother fled with her from Somalia when she was only 5 years old after her father was killed in Mogadishu by unknown bandits.
Together they lived in Dadaab Refugee Complex until 2006 when she moved to Nairobi to stay with family friends after her mother died, she said. She eventually settled in Nairobi and married there in 2009.
"My husband, my children and I were forcefully brought back to the city of Mogadishu," she told Sabahi, describing what happened when Kenyan security forces came to their apartment building on Jam Street in Eastleigh. "It was late at night when the security forces apprehended us. Police officers banged on our doors yelling for al-Shabaab to come out."
"We were all terrified," Hassan said. "When they asked us for our refugee identification cards, we told them that we had lost them, but they would not accept that [answer]. We [eventually] joined hundreds of Somali people who were taken to Pangani Police Station in Nairobi."
The family was held in Pangani for three days and then transferred to Kasarani Stadium, where they were held for over two weeks, she said.

World Cup 2014: I am behind Ronaldo injury problems, claims Ghana witch doctor

Kweku Bonsam

A Ghanaian has said that he has provoked the Portugal star to be spiritually wounded before the World Cup and will prevent him from facing the Black Stars
A traditional priest from Ghana has said that he is behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury problems, which “can never be cured by any medic”.
The Real Madrid and Portugal star is suffering from tendonitis and is set to miss out on his country’s pre-World Cup friendlies against Mexico and Ireland, though Nana Kwaku Bonsam, who describes himself as a traditional priest, has claimed responsibility for the Ballon d’Or winner’s plight, which he has claimed to be “spiritual”.
“I know what Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury is about, I’m working on him,” the witchdoctor told Ghanaian radio station Angel FM.
“I am very serious about it. Last week, I went around looking for four dogs and I got them to be used in manufacturing a special spirit called ‘Kahwiri Kapam’.
“I said it four months ago that I will work on Cristiano Ronaldo and rule him out of the World Cup or at least prevent him from playing against Ghana and the best thing I can do is to keep him out though injury.
“This injury can never be cured by any medic, they can never see what is causing the injury because it is spiritual. Today, it is his knee, tomorrow it is thigh, next day it is something else.”
Ghana are due to play Portugal on June 26 in Brasilia, in what will be their final match of Group G, which also includes Germany and USA.

AMAZING PAIR, 31YR OLD BOY IN A HOT SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH A 91YR OLD- AND HE'S LOVING IT

While some men prefer young girls with flawless figures,Kyle, from Augusta, Georgia, dates numerous pensioners at the same time and even takes them home to meet his 50-year-old mother. For the last five years he has been in a 'casual' relationship with 91-year-old Marjorie McCool. And despite the 60-year age gap, the pair have an active sex life and can't keep their hands off each other.
 Kyle said:
'Everyone's brain is wired differently, some guys prefer blondes, some brunettes, some like other guys - i like old Ladies. Most of the time, the average age I go for is between 60 and 80.Whenever I'm trying to speak to an older woman, the first reaction I get is 'you're way too young'. I find persistence is good so I tell them it'll be fun.Often, the things women are so self-conscious about is what I'm into. I like the neck lines and wrinkles. Women worry about their boobs sagging but I think the natural hang looks great. I'm really not a fan of plastic surgery. I don't like to say gray, I'm a fan of platinum hair. I prefer it natural.'The most common criticism I hear is 'you're after money' or 'you're after inheritance'Or people think these women must be buying me things. But it's not true at all - I do this because I like it and they like it too. I've dated women from various ends of the financial spectrum, but it's never about what they have

AREGBESOLA URGES VOTERS TO GO TO POLLS WITH JUJU

Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has tasked residents of the state to go to the polling booths on August 9, 2014 armed with charms and verses from the Quran and Bible.
The governor, who said this in Ikire on Tuesday during his campaign in the town, however, did not say what voters would use the charms and prayer verses for.
Speaking in Yoruba language, Aregbesola urged the people of the state to go out and cast their ballots and stay back until the result was announced to avoid rigging.
He described the Peoples Democratic Party as an assemblage of men who are promiscuous for asking young women to “dress to kill” while going to cast their ballots during the governorship poll.
The governor said, “Make sure you go to cast your ballots with everything. I am not saying you should go there with guns but the law does not frown against charms, verses from the Quran and psalms of the Bible.
“Cast your votes for APC and stay back. Wait for the sorting, counting and announcement of result. Make sure you are there to witness how agents would sign the election results. Stay back, don’t hurry home to avoid manipulation.”

NIGERIA MILITARY TARGETS SENATOR ALI NDUME'S CONVOY

A Nigerian Senator, Muhammed Ali Ndume, on Sunday said he escaped an air assault when a military fighter jet targeted his convoy of vehicles near his country home, Gwoza, and dropped four bombs.
The military, according to Senator Ndume said it was an operational miscalculation as they were targeting some terrorists that killed eight civilians in a border village on Saturday.
The bombs reportedly missed their targets because the seven vehicles on Mr. Ndume’s convoy were moving at top speed.
The four bombs, PREMIUM TIMES learnt, landed in the village of Pulka when Mr. Ndume was on his way to Gwoza Local Government Area to perform two functions.
The first, according to the senator, was to condole and commiserate with some of his constituents who were attacked by terrorists in Ardoko Village, 185km from Maiduguri, leading to the death of eight people. The second was to deliver a letter of status elevation to the Emir of Gwoza; who was elevated from a second-class to a first-class traditional ruler by the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima.
The senator said he was told by the military in Borno that the bomb attack was an operational blunder, as they did not intend to kill him.
“Though the military insisted it was a mistake, but it really underscored the seriousness of the problem of the operational lapses of the army,” he told PREMIUM TIMES.
“I was on my way to Gwoza and had to stop by in Pulka village which is some few kilometers away from Gwoza to attend to some of my people that came to welcome me there. There was a military post there too and I even exchanged pleasantries with the soldiers before proceeding.
“But as we began to move through Pulka I heard a massive explosion and some others ones followed. Initially I thought it was the Boko Haram that were attacking us; we even thought it was some people waiving at us from the road side that detonated the bomb.
“When we stopped, one of the army personnel that were escorting me said ‘Oga, we have to take cover, the bombs were dropped by the Airforce’, so we had to immediately return to the military post that we left some few yards behind us for a cover.
“At the military base, the soldiers there tried to establish communication with the pilot of the jet but could not across. And after some minutes they said that it might be an operational blunder from the Nigerian Airforce,” he said.
The military has been using air and ground attacks in in its efforts to defeat the Boko Haram insurgents in the three states of Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa, which are currently under a state of emergency.

BOKO HARAM STRIKES AGAIN, ATTACKS CHURCH, AND KILL 12

Boko Haram militants yesterday killed at least twelve people in an attack on church worshippers at Attagara, a village in Gwoza local government area of Borno State.
A security source told SaharaReporters that a group of armed men stormed a church at Attagara village and opened fire on worshippers during Sunday service. The attack took place about 9.30 a.m.
The source added, however, that members of the community mobilized quickly and were able to kill six of the militants, injuring many others as well.
The source added that more than one hundred militants had arrived at the church and opened fire indiscriminately.
A resident of the town recalled that the attack was the second by Boko Haram in two weeks. He wondered why the military continues to prove incapable of protecting helpless civilians.

House Of Rep Member, Gebi, Detained By EFCC Over N173m Fraud

A member of the House of Representatives representing Bauchi Federal Constituency, Hon Aliyu Gebi has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. A source at the Commission disclosed that the federal law maker was detained this morning as he reported following an invitation by the Commission,
Gebi is alleged to be facing multiple cases of fraud to the tune of N173million. He allegedly obtained the amount from four different sources with false pretenses.
The source who is familiar with the Commission’s investigation, revealed that Gebi obtained N60 million as loan from one Chinedu Iloabachie ostensibly to pursue his political aspirations with a promise to return the money to his benefactor as soon as he was elected a law maker. After his election, the lawmaker failed to fulfil his promise to refund the money. Six different cheques he issued to Iloabachie were returned unpaid, owing to insufficient fund in his account.
It is the same story with Efab, a property developer who borrowed Gebi N47million to further his political ambition. All the cheques issued by Gebi as payment for the loan were returned unpaid.
Gebi, also allegedly obtained N16 million from Senator Ahmed Zanah under the pretext of helping him to buy the foreign exchange equivalent from the Central Bank of Nigeria at official rate. He neither bought the forex nor refund the money to the senator.
The member of the House of Representatives equally converted a sum of N50million obtained from one Aliyu Habeeb to own use. Habeeb allegedly paid the money as deposit for a house he wanted to buy from Gebi. He neither got the house nor has the lawmaker agreed to refund his deposit.
Gebi who already has a fraud related matter in court, is still being grilled by Investigators at the headquarters of the EFCC at press time.

India Gets A New State

Celebrations erupted in southern India to mark the creation of the new state of Telangana on Monday at the culmination of a separatist campaign stretching back nearly six decades.

Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, who at one stage went on hunger strike as part of the push to create what is India's 29th state, was sworn in as chief minister during a morning ceremony in Hyderabad.

Residents broke into celebrations on the stroke of midnight, with a fireworks display lighting up the skies over the city.

India's new Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the first to congratulate Rao, promising his "complete support to the people & Government of Telangana" in a message on Twitter.

"India gets a new state! We welcome Telangana as our 29th state. Telangana will add strength to our development journey in the coming years," Modi added.

"Telangana's birth comes after years of struggle and sacrifices by several people.

Would Nigerians celebrate a new state or a divided country?

Miley Cyrus' $102 000 car has been stolen

The Wrecking Ball hitmaker's home was targeted by a pair of thieves on Friday and they managed to drive away with the star's prized 2014 Maserati Quattroporte, as well as jewellery.
Police were called to the singer's home in the San Fernando Valley in California when Miley's assistant discovered several items had disappeared.
It's believed the assailants - who police have identified as a man and a woman - scaled the star's garage to gain access to the house.
No one was home at the time and Miley, who is currently in Europe for herBangerz world tour, isn't expected back in the United States until July.
The burglary comes months after Miley's home was burglarised in November on the weekend of her 21st birthday.
The singer was left "extremely upset" about the incident because "a lot of personal items were stolen".
On Sunday, Miley appeared to be in a downcast mood on Twitter, but it's not known whether she was referring to the break-in at her home.
She wrote: "ya know when you just cry in the shower for no reason (sic)"
