Ize-Iyamu Decamps From APC to PDP

Ize-Iyamu’s group decamps from APC in EdoThe crisis that trailed the ward and local government congress conducted by the Edo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), took a new twist on Monday as aggrieved members of the party led by the former South South Vice-Chairman of the defunct Action Congress Nigeria, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, resigned en-mass their membership of the party.
Their followed a motion moved by a former member of the Federal House of Representatives, West Ehigie-Idahosa, following which eight local government chairmen of the party and political appointees loyal to the group, announced their resignation from Oshiomhole’s government and disengagement from the party.
It would be recalled that the group had given the Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole a seven-day ultimatum to cancel what they described as questionable party membership registration exercise, as well as “the dubious ward and local government congresses conducted by the APC under his watch.”‎ the ultimatum has since expired.
A communique read on behalf of the group by Tony Omoaghe, alleged that no attempt was made by governor Oshiomhole to “redress the flawed membership registration exercise and the congresses. Nothing has been heard from the appeal panel set up to deal with complaints arising from the sham congresses. There must be an end to the governor’s naked show of power which we daily witnessed in the affairs of the party and indeed in the governance of the whole state. As democrats, we would decide our next line of action in a few days’ time.”
It was reliably gathered that the group will soon declare for the PDP in the state.
The Interim state Publicity Secretary of APC, Comrade Godwin Erhahon, in a swift reaction, accused the group of being economical with the truth.
Erhahon said the mass resignation by the group “is a good omen for us and we want to assure the PDP that what they have inherited is an ailment and not a blessing.
He said the party leadership was happy that the cancerous tumour that has plagued it for some time now, has melted out in submission to the fervent prayers of our women wing for quite some months now.
“Whereas it was the Ize-Iyamu that was trying to force the governor to manipulate the process to his favour, he has been too economical with the truth when he told the public that it was the governor that manipulated it. We would not have bothered to react, but because he bears the title of a Pastor, it is interesting that his group which claims to be a progressive body has retrogressed in 2014 to swallow their vomit against PDP and Chief Anenih in 2005. And we want to assure PDP that what they have inherited is an ailment and not a blessing. Time shall tell, he declared.
