Politics: Nobody Has Decamped, They Only Resigned And Are Presently Asking to Come Back Says Peter Okhiria CPS Edo State Goverment

May I know your name sir?
Peter .O : I am Peter Okhiria Chief Press Officer to Governor Adams A. Oshiomole”

So how has it been in the last six years of government?

Peter .O : I think it has been wonderful and the people of Edo state can attest to it. Because there has never been a governor that is concerned about the people since Chief Samuel Ogbemudia whom has also come out to say that Governor Adams A. Oshiomole has done even much more than he has. We a commendation from a man like that I think we have done well.

J.T : Narrowing it down to Education, we hear of how teachers refused the competency test which was put in place to ascertain the qualification of teachers. What is the governor doing about it sir?

Peter .O : Well the governor has put in place good infrastructure for schools across the 92 walls of the state for both the secondary and the primary education which is better than most private schools you see around. But a situation where you have the structures in place without qualified teachers, the investment would be wasted.  The competency test was spurred by a J.S.S 3 student who came to meet the governor during one of our inspections to say “Mr. Governor, thank you for the infrastructure you put in place for us but please ask our teachers to teach us well”. This singular act spurred the governor to conduct screening for teachers were we discovered that most of these teachers couldn’t speak proper English Language, nursing babies in school, absent from school and not certified.
This led to the decision of the competency test because this government is not just about building schools and roads but also leaving a lasting legacy which is the children. The government still insist that something must be done about to build the future of the children.

J.T : Sir there is a rumour that the local government chairmen are being supported by the governor?

Peter .O : That rumour is baseless, unfounded and untrue. Local government chairmen get what is due them from the federal government. As for the commissioners they all know they have been called to serve and not to come and chop unlike other past governments. Like the governor would proudly say that his commissioners are the list paid in the country.

J.T : Is it true that APC candidates decamping, how true is it Sir?

Peter .O :  Well in political games it is expected that politicians would cross carpet and I haven’t heard of anybody decamping yet though some persons said they have resigned from the party, it doesn’t mean that they decamped. Some are even coming back to say they were tricked and they didn’t resign.
Who are we expecting as the governors candidate for 2016?
Peter .O : The governor has no candidate, we are not projecting for that yet. 2016 is still too far, the governor is busy with the legacy he wants to leave behind after his completion of his time in power.

J.T: Talking about legacies, what is the governor doing about roads on the government restricted Area?

Peter .O.: Let’s work for the poor masses who don’t have a voice in the society first, when we are done we can then come back to G.R.A. it a government were we fend for the masses first before any other
